Women's Empowerment & Rights
Manipur has over thirty tribes, several of them living well below the national poverty line. Our rights work is about building the knowledge, skills and confidence for people to assert what is already theirs.

How it works
Women's empowerment runs through the whole organisation rather than sitting in a corner of it: in self-help groups, in training, in who is standing at the front of a distribution. Gender sensitivity is one of our stated organisational values and we treat it as a working standard, not a slogan.
For displaced and tribal communities we focus on creating community assets that benefit both the people and the environment they depend on, and on documentation, recording what has happened to people so that claims can actually be made.
Promotion and protection of human rights, including documentation, is among our registered programmes. Food rights, child rights and the rights of vulnerable groups are where that work concentrates.
